Meru National Park & Tendo Valley Dedication

Wednesday, July 3rd

This morning we left out early. We needed to arrive at the Tendo Valley Teacher College Campus to meet a group of 8th grade group of ARI students . We were joining them on an educational experience (field trip) a few kilometers down the road at Meru National Park learning center. Here we listened to a short lecture & a video on Meru National Park & the animals that inhabit the park.

On our short walk between Tendo Valley Teacher College and the Meru Park entrance here are a few pictures of the sight we saw.

After the park visit we returned to Tendo Valley College to participate in the dedication of the multipurpose library we came to help construct.
This was a special event. We began with lunch prepared by some ladies:
In my dish I have a heaping pile of mashed potatoes, cabbage, beans over rice and a doughy pastry.

Enjoying a bite and sweet fellowship.

Scott greeting the group on behalf of our team.
Delinda making a remark about the girl "Lucy" she made a connection with on one of her first trips to Kenya when Lucy was a student at ARI school and later sponsored her to attend training to become a teacher.

Delinda presenting Misheck with a copy of the bible "mother book" intended to be the first book of the library once is up & running.

Misheck wanted Delinda to help lay a cornerstone in honor of the support the Rodgers family & Mt Olivet Church have given over the last 30+ years. This trip, almost half way through, has already shown me how special Kenya is to the Rodgers family and I'm glad I am getting to see it first hand. The pictures below show Delinda laying the brick.

We all giggled at the misspelling of her name. "Delinder" should read Delinda. Good thing this was only the paper copy and not the final marble copy.

Pastor Cecil leading the concluding prayer.
