This morning we set out for our last work day at Tendo Valley Teacher Collage. Our job today was to put some finishing touches on the library we came to help build and to clean up around the campus.
We removed piles of rubble from cinder blocks and sorted pieces of wood- pulling out nail after nail to be reused. Our observation has been that Kenyans use & reuse every bit of material. Whereas we in America would throw away used materials away~ Kenyans do not.
Teamleader Delinda and I. Thanks to her open invitation I was able to be a part of this year's team.

Before leaving, our team met with current students of Tendo Valley College to offer words of encouragement and affirmation. It was touching for me as a teacher to share my passion and to challenge them to be agents of change, touching the lives of future generations.
I have to say it was a surreal feeling sharing this experience with my high school physics teacher and his son who I worked with this past school year.

This afternoon part of our team took on the challenge of hiking up the mountain that borders our hotel to look out over the the city of Maua.
Notice the local children creeping on us!
Group Shot!
Our teammate Lynne, who stayed behind at the hotel, took our picture from atop the mountain!
Yes, there were camels at the bottom of the hill... Did you know they use camels for milk here in Kenya.
Our hotel through us a celebratory dinner in honor of our last day tomorrow-
Cake included- it tasted like cornbread with fondant icing. Translated it says "You are out friends. Come again soon."
