Where were you?

I was a senior in high school sitting in a psychology class. I remember another teacher knocking on the classroom door with the news. The remainder of the day all eyes were glued to the television, hugging friends and family close. It was a "quiet" day as everyone operated in a sense of shock. It's hard to believe 8 years have passed since that fateful day. I made a point to remember the event with my students. They were roughly 3 or 2 years old when 9/11 occurred. It was interesting for me to see that some students had no knowledge of 9/11. I know that they were too young to remember the day- but it makes me sad that some parents haven't taken the time to share such a life-impacting event with their children. 9/11 is already documented in our new Social Studies books- falling in place amongst other important historical events. As time rolls on- I hope that we, Americans, will not forget the lives that were lost and the soldiers that still defend our freedom today.
