Geocaching!!!

Oh my word! I think I have stumbled upon a new found hobby! This week the Technology Facilitator at my school asked me and 2 other teachers to participate in a staff development. Sure! Any excuse to get out of the classroom! I vaguely knew what Geocaching was about... so today was the perfect day to explore! Geocaching is a high-tech way of treasure hunting. You use hand-held GPS units to navigate your way from place to place. People have all kinds of ways of hiding things- in stumps, in trees, inside street signs, in grave yards... you name it. They told us today that there are over 6,000 in the 28025 zip code. Geocaching is a hobby done world-wide. It is also very applicable to education. I cannot wait to try this with my students. For further explanations check out www.geocaching.com. For now enjoy my pics!Figuring our our first cache An army box hiddin in a log Taking a peak insideI'm a geocaching pirate!
