Kara met us at the Guest House and took us to the Emanuel Foundation - a safe haven for children in the red light district. This foundation was founded 15 years ago by a lady named Goretty. Her family owned land and her grandmother had a house right in the middle of the red light district. Goretty moved over seas to study when she was younger but felt led to return home and open a safe place for children in the red light district. The hope is the break the generational cycle of prostitution. Children ages 4 through 18 can come here while their mothers work and recieve food, help with their school work, learn life skills and interaction with other children. The catch is that the mothers must volunteer once or twice a month to recieve childcare. Right now school is out for summer break- students are out of school the months of December and January so they spend a lot more time than usual at the foundation.
KCOG funded these computers - a vital part of their remote learning during Covid.
They have a new sewing room where mothers can come to learn trade to support themselves
in hopes of getting them out of prostitution.
We loaded a bus with the kids and headed to Genesis Coachabomba for our outreach time.
We ate lunch with them upon arrival - fries chicken and fries- which is a treat for them.
While the students watched a Christmas Carol Disney style in Spanish Jonathan and Kara took us on a quick tour of the church.
After lunch we shared a lesson with them, did a couple of crafts, played games and opened gifts with them.
Jonathan and Lucas fixed me some coco tea to help with my altitude issues.
The kids loved watching their tias “aunties” (caregivers do the reindeer game) 😆

David, Jenny P and I returned to the church for praise and worship practice with the praise team from Genesis Cochabamba- they were so welcoming!
