On our last day in Costa Rica we set off on an adventure to the La Paz Waterfall. We left our hotel at 6 am.
About an hour into our drive we stopped for a yummy breakfast. The area we stopped in is know for growing strawberries year round.
Hydrangeas are also grown there
Across from the restaurant was a gift shop and outside the gift shop some beautiful hummingbirds were flying around.
There were also beautiful flowers to admire
On our way to La Paz we passed a lot of coffee fields. Most of these coffee fields belong to Starbucks.
There were lots of animals and beautiful scenery to take in at La Paz.
It's not every day you come in this close of contact with toucans!
They call this exotic plant the lobster flower because it resembles the lobster's big claws.
This is actually a banana plant bloom! Can you see the banana sprouts?
The beautiful ma-calls
and an owl!
The owl butterfly
Butterflies at the feeding trough
There was a huge butterfly aviary there where we got to see a lot of beautiful specimens of butterflies
The monarch butterflies of Costa Rica do not migrate like the monarch butterflies of North America because of the warm year round climate.
Next we visited the monkeys and wild cats.
With the oxen.
We even went for a ride!
Beautiful orchids

It was quite a hike to the waterfalls but well worth it!
On the way home I got a little car sick- I think it was from a combination of high altitude, trying to stay hydrated but the water not settling well and riding down the mountain going around curves in the rain.
I opted for just a ginger ale at our last dinner with Val.
We gave Val a blue bracelet with nautical stones to commemorate our "Deep Sea" VBS week.
