Snow day part two!

Even though my alarm clock had been retired for the week I still woke up early!
I started my day with a cup of hot coffee and I Love Lucy.
I baked my favorite orange cinnamon rolls for breakfast! Figured I'd need some energy for playing in the snow!

As I was finishing up breakfast I looked outside and what to my wandering eyes did I see.... But buckets of snow falling from the sky!

Time to bundle up in my owl toboggan and wellies!

I pulled out dad's old sled and took a few  rides down the street before deciding to build a tarheel snowman! I don't think, in my 30 years of life, I've ever had such ideal weather conditions to make a snowman!

At first the snow from yesterday was packed and icy- it didn't take long for the new snow to accumulate, making it much easier to work with!
8 inches in some places
10 in others

It snowed a good solid 4 hours before giving way to sunshine which began to melt things...

Tonight after the sun goes down and things refreeze it should be the perfect time to sled again!

Stay tuned...

The big 3-0

I have to say turning 30 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

I started celebrating a few days early and liked it so well I extended a few more days!

Thursday, the 6th, my soon-to-retire principal hosted a birthday lunch for 3 of us that had birthdays all in a row!

A sweet first grader, Gianna, and I share the same birthday!

Friday night coincided with the monthly BFF dinner out- we tried Carolina Ale House!

Saturday Dad, Mom and I met Tyler and the girls for breakfast before heading to Greensboro to celebrate with the rest of the fam.

I can't tell you the last time we celebrated birthdays as an extended family. It was an often occurrence when we were little but as we got older it just didn't happen as much!

John Michael turned 27 January 30th so we made a double bday celebration.

As always Aunt Myra was the hostess with the mostess!

While in town I was able to catch up with one of my favorite friends- Traci, for a quick visit over yogurt at Di'lishi.

And just when I didn't think my birthday could get any better ... One of my best friends from college, Meredith was in town for a Charlotte Bobcats game over the weekend so we were able to visit and celebrate on Sunday!

Snowmagedon aka Snowpocalypse aka PaxStorm

I've been watching the forecast for days....

Tuesday ...
Wednesday...

I woke up at 5 am ready to tackle my optional work day... No point in staying home when there's no precipitation...

My principal told me I could leave the minute I spotted snow flakes ... I was beginning to get a little disheartened...

The weather channel app radar showed precipitation ... My windows showed another...

Less than 30 minutes later the first snow flake appeared and I was outta there...

First stop to  Centergrove hardware to purchase a plastic sled or two
When I arrived there were none... A worker had gone to get more... No less than 15 people were waiting in line to get their sleds... I was lucky to get mine!

Music to my ears!!
By 4:30 we had 4.5 inches accumulating in some areas
