Retreating away....

This weekend we took our annual choir retreat. We retreated to Lake Junaluska, NC (claim to fame is the filming of Dirty Dancing)

The weather was overcast all weekend, but you couldn't have asked for a prettier view

Mom and I. Think we could pass for twins?

  1. With Gail and Donna, whom I also have the privilege to work with at school.

To continue with the hen theme- Gail remained the hen, Donna I dubbed "chickee" and I couldn't leave myself out- so to go with my adoration of owls... I claimed "owl- oh wise one!"

The many faces of Jenny P.... I think we'll keep her around just for the laughs!

10 things about me...

1. I can't stand styrofoam & plastic cups! Ie. the ones you get at fast food restaurants or service stations. Well let me clarify that- I have no problem using them, I just get a little annoyed when they stack up by the millions at home. I make it my mission to "accidentally" throw them in the trashcan.
2. I write left-handed- but that doesn't mean I do everything left handed. For instance, I noticed the other day I was using a pair of scissors with my right hand, I bat right handed too.
3. Speaking of left-handed, when I'm reading a magazine, most People, I'll start flipping through the pages beginning with the end of the magazine.
4. I am a creature of habit- when I go to a resterant if I find something I like on the menu I'll 9 times out of 10 order it every time I eat there.
5. I am the biggest procrastinator.... specifically when I think about laundry---- I'll wash my clothes and then leave CLEAN clothes smashed back in the laundry basket for days on end.
6. To the dollar- I'm one of those weirdos that when I am leaving a tip I always round up to the next dollar. Example. Bill is $X.76 ... I'll add on that missing .24 just to end on a whole dollar.
7. I am a "2nd guesser" shopper. Meaning I'll see something I like, 2nd guess myself and not purchase it initially only to go back the next day or find it online and purchace.
8. Sundrop is my coffee. My students know not to bother me until I've had a good dose of Sundrop. Just can't function without it.
9. When I was younger I absolutely detested the sound of finger nail files scraping back and forth across nails and the feel of the inside of athletic socks- yes I would turn them inside out. Both of these sensory issues have lessoned with time.
10. I am extremely tickelesh.

When Dreams Come True...

This weekend I traveled to Cleveland, TN my beloved college hometown to see one of my college roommates, Amy Beth, married off...

Last year Lee built this beautiful chapel. Word is this chapel is booked out months in advance. To follow suit with Lee's "ring by Spring policy"- some girls book it before they even have a boyfriend...
It was just too beautiful not to take a few model worthy posed pictures in front of....

With bridesmaids Cara (fellow North Carolinian) and Kelly

With Sarah Beth (a college suitemate) and Shannon (college RA)

All the single ladies! Bouquet toss.. WTG Sarah Beth! Let's see if you're next!

Starlite... a ministry started by Amy Beth ... members through the years
Now and then beside the bride! 9 years later...

Such a cute wedding favor idea...

Me and Meredith, my gracious host for the weekend! She is truly one of my dearest friends!

Gender Reveal!

For the longest time everyone, me included, thought that the twins would be one each, a boy and a girl. Were we surprised today when pink balloons revealed the sweet secret!

After lunch with Alison's family we came home busting at the seams to find out!
Tyler casually strolled across the street to bring Barley and Grady over so they could "listen in on the big announcement" with everyone else. In the back of my mind I wondered if they were part of the gender reveal!

A few minutes went by and Brandon and I saw a pink balloon mysteriously floating up into the sky from behind my parents house.... when Alison realized what was happening she started screaming for Tyler to "Go back! Go back!" He was trying to tie pink balloons on the dog's collars and in the midst Barley, naturally, got spooked and the balloon plan went ary- thus Grady is sporting two pink balloons!

Here's the proof! Two sweet little girls will be joining our family early 2013!
