Memorial Day 2010

This Memorial day I am thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for their country. I am proud to call myself an American. I count it a priviledge to recite the Pledge of Alligence with my students- it's something I don't take lightly. Sometimes I wonder how much longer it will be before "one Nation under God" is taken out.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

I'm proud to call these two navy men my grandfathers.

Here is a link to my Paw Paw Butler recalling his service in WWII:

This is a picture of my Paw Paw Dancy. He also served in the NAVY during WWII:

Memorial Day Weekend on the Lake

Yesterday I spent the day with my family and friends (who are more like family) at the lake. I hope this is the beginning of many fun weekends on the lake this summer. We started on the lake...

An amazing testimony!

Almost a year ago I had the priviledge of traveling to China. This afternoon Mom was watching the 700 club when this story caught her attention:

This story caught my attention too for 2 reasons- my passion for China and this professor was from my alma mata!

A taste of Louisiana...

My first year of teaching I was blessed to find an incredible 3 ladies who took me under their wings and carried me through! 2 of those 3 ladies happened to be from Louisiana. We all know Louisiana is known for their cajon delicacy. After many conversations and stories of crawfish boils- I was privilidged to attend my first last evening! What a treat it was...

They ordered 800 pounds of these suckers! They are some serious crawfish eaters I tell ya! They have them shipped live from New Orleans.

The only way to eat crawfish is to add a side of veggies!

In no time at all, Mary and I helped to devour a box full! Yummee! Can't wait for this new yearly tradition!

Ooops... where'd the time go?

Didn't mean to let a 3 month hiatus slip into my bloggining! To my defense I've had a lot on my plate. Grad school, work, Spring Break and Weston's accident... I have lots to catch up on!

Summer Toes...

These toes are itching for summer! 15 school days left... but who's counting! I AM! I AM! My one indulgence is pedicures... oh well, guess it's a good one to have!
