It's about time...

Over the past few years I have heard ladies rave over Beth Moore's Bible Studies. I've never had time (made the time anyways) to do one, that is until NOW. I figure, it's now or never. Now seems as good a time as any. The Esther circle, a young women's group, at church meets monthly to share in want and in need. Our fall kick off was tonight. As a group we have commited to doing an in depth study of one of Beth's older studies, "To Live as Christ." This devotional follows the life of Paul, a missionary. Tonight we watched an introduction clip (the outdated fashion was quite comical)- though dated with time- the message NEVER changes. I felt an immediate connection as Beth related being teachable in this study to a teacher. Teachers are the hardest students to be taught. Lord make this teacher teachable. Instead of rushing through this study- we have mapped it out to take the course of several months. I am excited about this journey.

Bring 'Em On!

Today, is the first Saturday after Labor Day- the beginning of my Fall Saturdays! I look forward to Saturdays!!! Saturdays are perfect for sleeping in
and watching a little bit of this and this !

Where were you?

I was a senior in high school sitting in a psychology class. I remember another teacher knocking on the classroom door with the news. The remainder of the day all eyes were glued to the television, hugging friends and family close. It was a "quiet" day as everyone operated in a sense of shock. It's hard to believe 8 years have passed since that fateful day. I made a point to remember the event with my students. They were roughly 3 or 2 years old when 9/11 occurred. It was interesting for me to see that some students had no knowledge of 9/11. I know that they were too young to remember the day- but it makes me sad that some parents haven't taken the time to share such a life-impacting event with their children. 9/11 is already documented in our new Social Studies books- falling in place amongst other important historical events. As time rolls on- I hope that we, Americans, will not forget the lives that were lost and the soldiers that still defend our freedom today.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well almost a month has passed since my last update... I'm not doing so well on my goal to update my blog regularly. Getting back into school, both teaching and grad work, has consumed most of my time. I love the anticipation and preparation of a new school year- but secretly despise the beginning of the new year..... getting into a routine, establishing procedures, getting to know a new group of kids, not to mention all the paperwork, etc...This year I have 22 students, 4 more than last year... 22 isn't a big number... but it's amazing what a difference the additional 4 makes.
