Truth

Sometimes the only way God can get our attention is to take us completely out of our comfort zones...

Mr and Mrs Green

Only after 9 years of dating- they finally decided to tie the knot! Congrats Jason and Amanda. Thanks for letting me share in your special day!

China

For some reason I could not access my blog while I was in China. The experience was life changing as I knew it would be. It will take me a while to process everything. For now here are a few poignant pictures that are "worth a thousand words"...

You are what you eat!

Sunday's morning message was; "You are what you eat." It was a simple yet thought provoking message for me. Food is definetely a weakness for me, particularly sweets! I have (knock on wood) never had a problem with eating and never had a problem gaining wait from food- thanks to a good metabolism. I prided myself in college on not gaining the stereotypical "freshman 15". I know, I should enjoy it while it lasts. Sooner than later my metabolism will slow down and the pounds will add up. Ok, back to Sunday's message. It is a daily struggle for me to eat healthy!!! My sweet tooth does not help in this matter. I secretly wish I was more of a health nut like my sister-in-law Alison. I don't count calories and I don't scrutinize the health pyramid (not that Alison does either) Rather I tend to grab whatever food, healthy or not, is closest and easiest to consume; not thinking twice about it's effect on my health or body. Pastor Greg referred to sweets, spiritually speaking, as those things that aren't beneficial to your overall life- but "taste good". These sweets include, entertainment, activities that don't lead you closer but prevent you from moving closer to God. A sweet here and there may not be bad, but with all sweets; a little here and there adds up to a lot overtime. Instead of filling yourself full of these sweets, one should feast on Jesus, the bread of life and drink from his living over water. Over and over the Bible is full of parables related to food- which empasises God's message to his children- "you are what you eat."

Look out summer here I come!

I don't think I have ever been so eager for a summer to arrive, nor have I earned a summer like I have this year! Summer is a mere 7 school days away. I know I shouldn't wish the time here, for it will be gone before I can blink! Never the less, there are a few things I am eagerly anticipating this summer...

-to start the summer off, Jason and Amanda's wedding June 13th
-two days later on June 15th I leave for a week long mission trip to China
-easy money- tutoring jobs I have lined up
-no alarm clock for 2 months
-staying up past 11 o'clock and not "paying for it" the next day
-road tripping it to Georgia to see my best friend Dana, and celebrate Tucker T's first birthday  (even if its a little late)
-laying by the KCC pool sipping on a Sun-Drop slushie
-seeing my best friend Meredith, whom I haven't seen in a year and a half, since she's been in  Korea, and spending a long weekend with her at Myrtle Beach the last weekend of July
-family time at Holden Beach the first week of August
-Carowinds/Emerald Pointe
-reading books for pleasure, that I WANT to

Bye, By Birdie....

The strangest thing happend this Spring. Every Spring a family of robbins returns to our back deck lamppost to build their nest and raise their young offspring. Well I noticed an undeveloped egg had been tossed out. Of course the impact of the land caused the delicate shell to break and the yoke oozed out. Gross- talk about a fried egg! I figured maybe it was a dudd- and the parents instinctively tossed it out! Not a day or two later... the same thing happend! MMMM.... Well a few weeks later, on a Sunday morning I noticed that a new hatchling had taken an early flight and landed on the hard unforgiving wood deck. I immediately assumed it had not survived its tragic fall and walked off. All the while the daddy or mama robbin starts to stand gaurd. We went on to church and when we got home, Mom- being ever so domesticated, checking on the bird sees that it is not dead. Knowing that it won't survive long outside the security of its nest, but also knowing that if a human touches the bird its parents won't take care of it- Mom goes into "protective" mode. She goes inside and gets a plastic bag to serve as a glove and commands me to stand guard for the ever so protective parental robbins swooping low and shrieking with fear. Oh yes, you can imagine- I looked like I was dodging bullets. In a minutes time the hatchling was safetly returned to its nost. Mom and I both felt us though our good deed for the day had been done. We went to the lake for a cookout that afternoon. Immediately apon our return I ran to the deck to check on the hatchling---- he was not in his nest were we had placed him... apparently he had been tossed out of his nest once and for all. Sad story! I found it ironic that not only had they tossed eggs, but defensless hatchings out of the nest! Mom's theory is that there were severl robbins in competion over one nest?
