Confirmation

Over and over God has been speaking words of confirmation in my life and the lives of those around me... in re: to my impending China trip "Obedience is better than sacrifice." "Obedience brings abundance."

Some of my favorite scriptures that I've held as encouragement: Jeremiah 29
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

Have been a source of comfort, promise and strength to my church family in the loss of an unborn child and the bleak fatal diagnosis to a 16th month old.

Call me- over spiritual, but I see this as one of those "checkpoints" along life's journey where the holy spirit says "you're right where I want you".

Calling All Prayer Warriors!

Saturday evening, Tim and Corey, gleefully announced that Anna Beth was going to be a big sister. Her new sibling is due to arrive around her second birthday in January of next year if calulcations are correct and all goes to plan. Unfortunately their joyous news would soon be overshattered with sad news...

Yesterday, Tuesday May 19th, very close family friends received some devestating, life altering news. Tim and Corey Thompson- Davis are the proud parents of a beautiful 16th month old baby girl, Anna Beth. Anna Beth being their first born has been ever so doted upon. By her first birthday Tim and Corey noticed Anna Beth wasn't walking or even attempting to. They, with doctors, attributed this to her laid back, mile mannered personality and constantly being held and carried as she pleased. Doctors suggested physical therapy. When limited progress had been made they ordered further testing, one being an MRI. An MRI was made last week, Tim and Corey were sent home- "everything looked fine." However this was not the case, the doctor called Corey at school on Tuesday and asked that she come in to his office so that he could talk with her. Tim and Corey left the doctor's office with a serious and grave diagnosis of Lissencephaly
- in common terms "Smooth Brain Syndrome". Children with this condition usually do not live past age 3. The doctor told them to watch for seizures. Up until this point they have not seen any visible seizures. Of course this has them paranoid. Further testing and evaluations are being sceduled to assess the severity of her diagnosis/condition. Right now, Tim and Corey, along with their immediate family are still trying to process this news and come to terms with everything as they prepare for the future and what needs to be done. All prayers are greatly appreciated.

I drove 2.5 hours to Anderson, South Carolina anxiously awaiting her arrival- made it just in time!

Simple fashion

Stereotypically teachers are known for being frumpy dressers! I blame this largely on dress codes- nevertheless the stereotype is what it is! Thankfully long gone are the days (at least at my school) of wearing ridiculous denim jumpers and gaudy teacher costume jewelry. I have always vowed never to be one of those stereotypical dressers. Fashion is essential- but not at the cost of comfort--- I'm always on the look for comfort... check out one of my latest finds...
Today I threw on a new dress  and a new necklace
the shoes I already had

My outfit cost maybe $30 altogether but based on the comments I got from faculty and students alike you would have thought I was dressed to the nines and had spent a pretty penny on my attire. The dress was $24.99 at Target and the necklace was $5.99 at www.sammoon.com (AWESOME jewelry at really inexpensive prices)

My students had this to say, "Miss Dancy! Why are you wearing a formal dress?" (this was a cotton knit dress- anything but formal)  "Where are you going dressed like that?" "You look like an hour glass- your figure that is!" "You're too jointy. You know, so skinny we can see your joints."

My principal, "When I walked in your classroom, I had to do a double take at your outfit. Of course I mean that in a nice way."

See! It is possible to dress fashionable and have comfort at the same time!
